Kyra M. Sedgwick (born Kyra Minturn) is an American actor and TV host. Her fan base is large throughout America and across the world because of her character as an actress in the TV The Closer.' Sedgwick's love for performing arts, Broadway and acting began when she was 12 years old. Her mother was very interested in Broadway and was able to introduce the show to her. At the age of 16 that Sedgwick received her first acting job professionally in the TV show 'Another World'. Though she initially began with tiny-time television roles however, it was the notion of becoming a professional actress that attracted her. Her first big screen role was in the movie "Born on Fourth of July, where she starred alongside Tom Cruise. Sedgwick's popularity in this film was the reason she got roles in other films like "Heart and Souls, 'Phenomenon,' etc. A television film titled "Lemon Sky" she got to know Kevin Bacon, an actor. The couple got married when they were just 22. Sedgwick made a mark in American television by her flawless performance. The Closer, which lasted seven seasons, won numerous awards, including The Golden Globe and Emmy.
